Leaves are yellow and the night air is getting cooler, the days are getting shorter, and the countdown to winter has begun! Fall is here. We are almost finished wrapping up goals for our second season at the farm. Over the summer we planted two rounds of cover crops (oats, rye & peas) on Field 1, and started prepping soil in Field 2 including lime application. We stabilized an old barn and replaced rotten footers so we could have a dry storage area for our tractor and implements. We received our irrigation equipment for Field 1, and are finalizing the installation of the irrigation well. We have a few days left of mowing and rototilling before our fields are ready to rest for the winter. All of this is to get us ready for a big moment this coming spring, the installation of our first order of 2,500 peony roots! The farm has changed so much since last year and next year will bring even more changes - we can't wait!
